Roger & Judy Abshire, Floyd, VA Mfg Date Feb 1970 Body R020997 Model 7079-7 Trim 064F Paint 58A Prod # 055899 VIN # AOC797P209182 360, auto, twin grip, floor shift, functional ram air, disc front brakes, power steering, gear ratio unknown, tinted glass, tilt steering, power brakes, front sway bar, center console, AM radio, wheel type is Five spoke with trim rings. I am not original owner and car is not for sale. This car is all original including the paint, interior, and drivetrain. It is in shabby condition but restoration will begin very soon. It has the thick wall 401 type engine with no C.I.D. cast on the outside of the block. It is factory bored to accept 360 pistons. The originality of this car speaks for itself. It has an unusual engine with no displacement cast on the sides of the block. While doing research on the engine, I found that it is one of the 401 blocks that AMC cast for the Penske Trans Am program. The only information I've found about production numbers stated: "A few of these engines were put in Donohue street cars". Anyone know how many? This engine was never bored to full 401 bore, and it has large reinforcements cast into the lower end. If anyone can provide production numbers for these engines in street Mark Donohue Javelins, please let me know. Thanks, Roger June 2006 update Hi Bj & Michele, I now have copies of complete title history on my Mark Donohue Javelin including the MSO. I have spoken with the owner of the original selling dealership who is eighty years old and still very active in the business. I have spoken with the father of the original owner and the second owner, who is the brother of the original owner. I have received a letter from the father stating that my car was a special order factory Mark Donohue, and that it took almost six months for the car to be delivered. The second owner has verified that the car is a factory Mark Donohue and has photos of when it was new, original keys, and possibly some paperwork which he will send to me as soon as he locates them. Thanks for adding this info on my Mark Donohue Javelin. Roger Abshire |
