Approximate Ownership History:

1970-1970  This car originally driven for several months by the wife of a                            dealership owner for demo purposes.
1970-1974  Owned by a middle aged couple in the Dakota's until 1974.
1974-1996  Donald Hehn purchased car in June of 1974.
                    (North Dokata~garaged since 1984)
1996-2004 Sold car to his brother Dean Hehn in 1996.
                    (Sheridan, Wyoming~garaged)
July 2004  Car purchased by Mark Smith of Royalston, Mass.

This car has 82,000 original miles, it is original and intact.  Only 3,000 miles put on the car since engine rebuild done in Arizona in 1984.

This car is not for sale.

I have found 2 build sheets.  One in the springs of the rear seat and a second under the carpet behind the driver's seat.

Buildsheet # 1 had been shreaded by a mouse but was intact enough to show the car # along with the Donohue designation listed under "Special Instructions".
The exact reading (with a mispelling was): X220426 36 MARK DONAHUA

I am piecing it all together and will create a reproduction with all the right numbers, keeping the original pieces for authentication purposes (and I've taken plenty of photos, you could see the letters DONO as I took the mouse nest apart, imagine my joy).  I'll post a few of them when I get a chance.

Buildsheet # 2 was intact but had gotten wet so many times you could not read any of the numbers and it was wicked thin.

June 2006 update

Hello Brian & Michele,
Mark Smith here. My car has been on your site for a couple of years now.  Here are a couple of more recent photos.  If you would like to put them on your site for me? (Thanks!) Paint is still the original.  I've been doing a lot of mechanical stuff, leaf springs, tranny, sandblasting and powdercoated the optional machine rims, etc.  Car is running great.  The photos were taken along with my sons 69 AMX which I figured no AMC fan would mind seeing with the Donohue. I have also included a reproduction build sheet I created from my original along with some help from another one I had.  The items on it in purple are what can actually be seen on my original, the red is based on what the car actually has for options using the codes.

Thanks for keeping this site.  Loved the engine rebuild book we bought from you too!  We'll be using it to rebuild my son's 290.
Thanks again. Mark.
