Shirl Bristow, Corte Madera, CA Mfg Date ??? Body ??? Model ??? Trim ??? Paint ??? Prod # ??? VIN # ??? 390, 4 speed, power steering, floor shift, rear axle twin grip, front sway bar, disc front brakes, functional ram air, T10 tranny, AM radio, not original owner & not for sale. Additional info: I was around 12 or 13 when my dad bought the Donohue. He was driving sdown the freeway in Oregon with my stepmom. Shje spotted a Javelin with a spoiler out in the middle of a field, and then they spent 2 hours searching until they found the property. The guy was the original owner of the car, which had been sitting for 8 years and was covered in moss. My father paid him $800, bought a battery and aired up the tires and drove it back to California. At that time there were 5 other Javelins in the backyard (one '72, two '73's and two '74's). My father paid a friend to paint the car its original matador red, but ended up with competition orange instead. My father had me help him rebuild 343 (ie: clean) to put in the Donohue while the 390 was having work done on it at the machine shop. I was 15 when my father go into some pretty big trouble and was sentenced to 114 years in prison. The car ended up at one of my uncles house where it sat for 8 years. During that time the other 5 Javelins were lost in one way or another. I bought a Javelin of my own and my father promised the Donohue to my younger brother. I was living in Santa Cruz a couple of years ago when my uncle and his wife were having problems. She had kicked him out, was getting a divorce and moved her new boyfriend in, who started selling off the cars that were on the property. I had my uncle tow it to my place in Santa Cruz. I am now living in Marin, CA and both the Donohue and my car are at a friend's house (he has 69 BBB Jav with a 390 4 speed in pretty nice shape) down in Santa Cruz. The windshield is now shattered and the machine shop got rid of the original 390 after my father never came back to get it. My friend has both a windshield and a '70 390 that he is hesitant to sell to me. Well thats a lot of crap. Regardless, I'm not sure if I've done the car any real good, I hope to get it going again soon. |
