390, 4 sp, floor shift, twin grip rear axle,3.54:1 gear ratio, wheel covers on steel wheels, AM radio. Not orginal owner, and car is not for sale.
This automobile was purchased used in November 1971 by my father from Lord Bros. AMC dealership in Holcomb N.Y. as a Donohue and as described above. The engine block is still original but now has open chamber 401 heads, 71 & up "freeflow" exhaust manifolds, an Iskenderian 270-HL cam and a Carter 625cfm AFB 4 BBL. The transmission has been replaced with a Mustang 5 speed transmission due to a failure of the original T-10 and my personal preference.
The interior is still original with the exception of the rugs, the color is black cord, with fold down center arm rest and rear seat arm rests and no day/night mirror. The car has the light group option, rim blow steering wheel (still functional). The dash board contains the 120 mph speedometer, idiot lights and a small tachometer located far left in what would be a blank hole or clock position with the fake wood grain overlay.
The trunk has the full sized spare tire and is configured as such, I now have the blow up spare tire. The rear axle has been replaced with a 3.15:1 twin grip. The wheels were steel with hub caps (confirmed by the build sheet). I now have the molded plastic turbine wheels (a later AMC option) trimmed to match the Bittersweet Orange paint (the orignal color but repainted). The radio has been exchanged for an AM/FM Cassette unit with rear speakers installed. The car was removed from daily driver status in the early 70's with about 70,000 miles on it. I now have 92,000 miles showing and it is an active week end toy . It was last seen nationally when driven to the AMO Nationals in Kenosha in 1998. The drivers door was replaced so the build sticker is long gone but I believe it was manufactured in Dec '69 (if memory is correct). The "C" stripes were not reinstalled when the car was repainted. |
